Try taking the messaging out of the mouth of spokespeople for a head of state and imagine the reaction if they came from spokespeople for the mayor of a U.S. city.

We approved bombing the apartment building because our informant said the leader of a domestic terror group was there with his girlfriend. We stand by our decision.

We approved bombing the hospital because we had a tip that combatants were seen entering the facility. We stand by our decision.

We approved bombing the school that was being used as a shelter for survivors of the apartment building bombing because we had reason to believe some of those we missed in the apartment building might be sleeping in the school. We stand by our decision.

We approved bombing the press center at the site of the other bombings because we suspected that one of the journalists had terrorist connections and may have been a terrorist in the past. We stand by our decision.
