Bob DeMoss and Mark Whitlock are Crackers (in Jesus' name)

I think Bob DeMoss and Mark Whitlock are the sort of people Mahatma Gandhi was talking about when he said:
When I began as a prayerful student to study Christian literature in South Africa in 1893, I asked myself again and again, 'Is this Christianity?' And I could only say, 'No, no. Certainly this that I see is not Christianity.' And the deepest in me tells me that I was right; for it was unworthy of Jesus and untrue to the Sermon on the Mount. — in C. F. Andrews, Mahatma Gandhi's Ideas: Including Selections from His Writings, (London, The Macmillan Company, 1930) page 95

Mr. DeMoss and Mr. Whitlock are selling Obama Waffles mix this weekend (pictured above in Evan Vucci's AP photo at the Value Voters Summit in Washington, D.C. co-sponsored by American Values and Focus on the Family Action). The two worked together at Focus on the Family back the day.

Mr. Whitlock's blog bio begins:
We live in a parable culture. Friedrich Nietzsche once said, "Better songs would they have to sing, for me to believe in their Saviour." Our culture screams, "Tell me a better story and then I’ll believe in Jesus.”

Gentlemen, seriously: Is Obama Waffles the better song you sing to draw people to your Saviour? Or is that a different compartment?

I'm not one to respond to blogs, but what these "Christians" have done is so far from Christ-like it's sick. If this is Family Values...then no thanks. I'd rather split Hell wide open than be in Heaven with people like this.

yeh, anonymous(?), i keep reminding myself that Jesus wasn't a Christian.

Family Values? Is this what you teach your children? Two losers, the both of you.

DeMoss states in several of the news stories that the waffle mix will soon be sold on the shelves at Books-A-Million. I have requested a confirmation from the company that they will sell the boxes. (These people tend to make things up)
I would appreciate it if you all would contact the company and ask if they are going to sell hate and racism. Tell all of your friends too. Thanks!

The conference leadership seemed to handle the situation quickly and effectively. There really would have been an issue if the racism was more widespread or if the conference leaders did nothing about the offensive behavior.
I would hope you are as outraged at the abuse that Palin is getting over her record , family, and faith.
If you think Christians are perfect, they're not. If you think they have to be for you to repent and accept Jesus Christ as saviour and Lord, then you will absolutely go to hell as you wish.
Try to remember that it is you, individually, that God will deal with in your upcoming face-to-face with Him. All self righteousness will be as effective as a dixie cup against a California wildfire.

SHAME ON YOU BOTH. RACIST COMMENTS DO NOT REFLECT CHRISTIAN VALUES. IF YOU HAVE ANY MORALITY OR DIGNITY, DONATE YOUR PROFITS TO OBAMA WITH A LETTER OF APOLOGY

you don't have to SHOUT Melody — i hear you and i appreciate your outrage. ...i wouldn't hold my breath on that giving the profits to Obama with an apology thing.

still, one can hope...

Whoa, chipsmydog; you're barking up the wrong tree.

the Gandhi quote is from a book i wrote with Brennan Manning, published by NavPress. when i say Mr. DeMoss and Mr. Whitlock are crackers, i'm not throwing stones — i'm in the house, throwing pies.

i note from the Obama Waffles website — the one that no longer sports the photo of Lou Dobbs with Mr. DeMoss and a box of the product in question — that they were required to take down their booth sometime after 2 pm on Saturday afternoon (so they missed the last third of the event, but they assure us the last person who bought was an African-American woman who purchased three boxes and they sure don't understand what all the ruckus is about what with the First Amendment and all). This does nothing to mitigate my opinion that they, Mr. DeMoss and Mr. Whitlock, are crackers.

I fully agree with Senator Obama that Governor Palin's children are off limits and the bloggers who went down that road and the professional news gatherers who followed them were gossips and we know what the Bible says about gossips, don't we.

i would say Governor Palin's faith is on the table every bit as much as Senator Biden's and the two candidates at the top of the ticket.

As for Governor Palin's record, that is all we have to go on as we consider whether she is a fit candidate for Vice President of the United States. At this stage, I think the record that's emerging is an embarrassment to the campaign and to the party and — given the shallow vetting with which she was selected — suggests a compound fracture in Senator's McCain's judgment.

the rest of your comment strikes me as the sort of sermonette that a long-ago pastor and mentor said was generally preached by Christianettes. but i don't know you and i bet if we had a contest to find out who needs mercy more, if such things can be measured in those terms, it would be me.

From Chris Medina.com - i'm not anonymous as it might say.

I'm really disappointed in DeMoss and Whitlock. Out of all the ideas they could have come up with they decided to go with the "waffle" idea with Obama.

Unfortunately the non-believers I have noticed who have a problem with the product have most likely been further pushed away from Jesus Christ. Chances are I will be confronted with this "news story" while trying to engage people with God's love. It's just one more thing to have to explain to non-believers before I can share Jesus or else I will be considered a "dodger". Gentlemen...where's the love dudes? Also, if Focus on the Family REALLY knew the facts about the Waffle Box and all that is written on it I'm sure they wouldn't have allowed it.
